Heiner's Restaurant

Heiner’s hotel and restaurant, like the headquarters of edataprocessing, is located on the former Nordstern colliery site, now Nordsternpark. Designed in 1997 for the Federal Garden Show as a self-service restaurant, the premises in the warehouse of the former Nordstern colliery have now been converted into a modern “temple of gastronomy” and beer garden.


Heiner’s celebrated its opening in 2008.

The listed brick foundation walls have been left untouched. Further details of the fascinating industrial architecture of the past such as steel beams and ventilation pipes have been skilfully integrated into the new ambiance. The interior is a spacious and comfortable area fitted out with burgundy leather upholstery and light oak. Heiner’s is thus a successful example of how historic industrial culture can go hand in hand with a modern lifestyle.

Gastronomically too, the influence of the mine is carried on in Heiner’s. Before your meal, an appetiser of black salt is served with bread and butter. The menu offers both local and international dishes with a difference that will appeal to lovers of simple food and fans of international and Mediterranean cuisine alike. Ingredients are always selected with quality and freshness in mind, and animal products always come from certified sources.
